Appointments & Bookings

How do I book an appointment? +

You can book your appointment online 24/7 through our Cliniko booking system. Simply click the "Book Appointment" button on any page of our website, or visit our booking page directly.

Prefer to book via email? Send us an email at marcus@riversdalephysio.com.au with your preferred date and time.

How long is an initial appointment? +

Initial assessments are 30 minutes. This includes:

  • Comprehensive assessment of your condition
  • Clear explanation of your diagnosis
  • Personalised treatment plan
  • Hands-on therapy where appropriate
  • Exercise prescription and home program

Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes as well.

What should I bring to my first appointment? +

Please bring:

  • Any relevant medical imaging (X-rays, MRI, ultrasound scans)
  • List of current medications
  • Previous medical reports or referrals
  • Health insurance card (if applicable)
  • Comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated
Do I need a referral from my GP? +

No referral is required to see a physiotherapist in Australia. You can book directly with us.

However, if you're claiming through private health insurance or seeking a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM), you may need a referral from your GP.

What is your cancellation policy? +

We require 24 hours notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the time slot to other patients who may need care.

Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) or no-shows may incur a cancellation fee. We understand emergencies happen – please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.

Yes! We offer both Pilates and strength & conditioning classes designed to improve your movement, build strength, and prevent injuries.

Our classes are suitable for all fitness levels and can complement your physiotherapy treatment. Contact us for class schedules and availability.

Do you offer home visits? +

Yes! We provide home visit physiotherapy services throughout Surrey Hills and surrounding eastern Melbourne suburbs including:

Camberwell, Hawthorn, Kew, Canterbury, Mont Albert, Box Hill, Balwyn, Ashburton, Glen Iris, Deepdene, Burwood, and Templestowe.

Home visits are ideal for:

  • NDIS participants
  • Post-surgery patients
  • Anyone who finds it difficult to travel to the clinic

Do you provide aged care services? +

Costs & Insurance

How much does a physiotherapy session cost? +

Our fees are competitive and transparent. Please contact us via email at marcus@riversdalephysio.com.au for current pricing information.

We accept payment by cash, EFTPOS, credit card, and health insurance claims (HICAPS available).

Do you offer bulk billing? +

Yes! We bulk bill for Chronic Disease Management (CDM) patients.

Chronic Disease Management Bulk Billing: If you have a valid CDM referral from your GP (also known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan or EPC), we can bulk bill directly to Medicare.

  • Up to 5 subsidized physiotherapy sessions per calendar year
  • No out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients
  • Bring your referral to your first appointment

We also accept private health insurance, NDIS, DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs), WorkCover, and TAC (Transport Accident Commission) claims.

Can I claim through my private health insurance? +

Yes! We have HICAPS facilities available, allowing you to claim your rebate on the spot using your private health insurance card.

The rebate amount depends on your level of cover. Please check with your health fund for your specific physiotherapy benefits.

Do you accept WorkCover or TAC (Transport Accident Commission) claims? +

Yes, we accept both WorkCover and TAC (Transport Accident Commission) claims. Please bring your claim number and relevant paperwork to your appointment.

How do I get to the clinic via public transport? +

By Tram: Take the Route 70 or 75 tram along Riversdale Road. Stop at Union Road/Riversdale Road.

By Train: Catch the Lilydale, Belgrave, or Alamein line to Canterbury or Chatham station, then take a short tram or bus ride to Riversdale Road.

By Bus: Several bus routes service Riversdale Road and the surrounding area.
